I Am Not a Robot is a publication about verification. This book guides the reader to verify a cat in order to certify that the user is a human rather than a robot. The artist selected images from identity verification pages, which are automatically generated by machine and algorithms of robots to distinguish humans from robots. When users make verification mistakes, the new verification images are regenerated by machine.


The book is printed with printer errors, and each time it prints, the printer jams and restarts, leaving behind visual glitches and traces of malfunction. It also captures the reader’s fingerprint on the verification images, merging the human mark with the mechanical process. It challenges the relationship between human identity and machine identity, and blurs the boundaries between verifier and verified between machine mistakes and human errors.
